Acne Types – Various Forms of Acne
cne is usually referred to as the inflammation that is caused due to excessive secretion of oil from the oil glands on the skin, leading to blockage of skin and bacterial activities. The definition might be simple, but there are many forms of acne, which all function according to the above definition, but differ in terms of symptoms and severity of the condition. All these listed below are the types of the Acne Vulgaris, normal and severe. Acne Rosacea is a far more painful and different form of acne.
According to these various forms, an acne treatment, either acne products prescribed by dermatologists or natural acne treatments can help improve your condition. Let’s identify some acne types :
- Whiteheads are pimples which are formed when bacterias block the skin pores leading to spots with white or yellow centers. They are temporary, and short lived.
- Blackheads are a result of the partial blockage of the skin pores, leading to eruption of spots which are caused by the slow action of bacteria. They are called blackheads because of the black compound which is formed on their surface due to the reaction of skin pigments.
- Papules are headless tender bumps on the skin, which are pink in color. These small spots should not be squeezed, else the condition gets worse.
- Pustules or Pimples are whiteheads which are inflamed. These red circles having a white or yellowish center should not be squeezed, else the problem increases.
- Nodules are large hard bumps which are present under the skin. They can be really painful, and squeezing them should be avoided always.
- Cysts are similar to nodules except the fact that they are filled with pus. A painful condition, it may worsen and cause a longer infection if you squeeze the spots.
Each of this type can also vary in terms of severity, and squeezing in every case should be strictly avoided. Wrong handling may lead to stronger infections which may last well into adulthood. The number of these forms of acne and the size of the lesions area on your skin determine the severity of acne (mild, moderate, severe) and of course the acne treatments that is best to use.
